Palace Skateboards was founded in London in 2009 by Lev Tanju, growing out of the Palace Wayward Boys Choir skate crew. Its early identity came from friends skating the city, filming each other and finding humour in everyday street life. Rather than starting with a conventional fashion concept, Palace built a brand around the attitude and visual language of its own scene.
The Tri-Ferg logo, designed by Fergus Purcell, has become one of contemporary skatewear’s most recognisable symbols. British sportswear references, irreverent graphics and a fondness for VHS-style footage run through its collections. Despite its crossover into a much wider fashion world, Palace continues to draw its credibility from skateboarding and the people who shaped it. Its boards and clothing are different expressions of the same London-rooted identity.
