New Era Cap: from baseball heritage to street culture

New Era began in Buffalo in 1920, when Ehrhardt Koch set up a cap-making business. The company moved into professional baseball, supplying the Cleveland Indians in 1934, and introduced the fitted 59FIFTY in 1954 under Harold Koch. That structured silhouette became far more than a piece of sporting equipment: it is now a familiar shape throughout streetwear.

The connection to skateboarding comes through clothing culture rather than skateboard hardware. Fitted 59FIFTY caps, adjustable 9FORTY designs and 9FIFTY snapbacks offer notably different fits and ways of wearing the same headwear heritage. At BUD, New Era represents the meeting point between American baseball history, music and the everyday wardrobe around a skate session.
