Slappy Trucks grew out of Mike Sinclair’s experiments with skateboard truck geometry during the pandemic. He spent more than two years working through prototypes, searching for a combination that can be difficult to achieve: generous grinding clearance without sacrificing the turning feel he wanted. Hangers, baseplates, bushings and kingpin placement all became part of the testing process.
The result is a truck brand built on a very specific skater concern, not simply a new logo stamped on familiar hardware. Anyone who spends time on curbs and ledges knows how the position of a kingpin and the response of the bushings can shape a session. For BUD, Slappy brings practical design questions into focus, where clearance, strength and steering matter as much as style.
