Bronze56k: New York skating with an old-internet twist

Bronze56k started in New York in 2011 when Peter Sidlauskas and Patrick Murray began selling skateboard hardware. Lacking money for elaborate production, they sprayed ordinary bolts bronze and built the label's identity through the Internet. The dial-up era hinted at in its name became an aesthetic playground: clunky computer graphics, outdated software references and a deliberately awkward sense of humour.

Bronze soon moved into apparel and skateboard projects, while its videos built a reputation for raw street footage and inventive editing. The old-web imagery is playful, but the skateboarding itself is completely serious. At BUD Skateshop, Bronze56k stands for a distinctly New York way of building a label from friends, footage, hardware and an original visual language.
