Filmmaker William Strobeck brought his distinctive way of looking at skateboarding into Violet, a board and clothing label built around a younger generation of skaters. His work on Supreme films such as cherry had already shown how much a skate video can say about people's style, surroundings and personalities. Violet began releasing its own decks, apparel and films in the early 2020s.
The project has a strong sense of casting and atmosphere: street spots, friendships and the moments between tricks are part of its language. In 2026, the full-length film SQUEAKY added another chapter. For BUD Skateshop, Violet represents skateboarding as a culture of images and individuals, not only a catalogue of board graphics.
