Blind Skateboards: the Video Days generation

Mark Gonzales launched Blind Skateboards in 1989, giving the rising street-skating scene a label with its own personality. The name cheekily answered his former sponsor, Vision, while the graphics embraced dark humour and an unmistakable hooded character. Blind grew during an era when skateboarding was being reinvented on city streets.

Spike Jonze's 1991 film Video Days captured that shift with Gonzales, Jason Lee, Guy Mariano, Rudy Johnson and Jordan Richter. Its editing, skating and soundtrack became part of the sport's visual language. Blind boards carry more than a graphic tradition: they connect today's setups with one of the formative chapters of modern street skating.
