Real Skateboards was founded in San Francisco in 1991 by Tommy Guerrero and Jim Thiebaud, with the support of Fausto Vitello. As street skateboarding was changing rapidly, they set out to build a company that reflected the personalities of its skaters rather than imposing a polished image. Real became a cornerstone of the Deluxe Distribution family.
Its identity has developed through memorable video parts, distinctive artwork and a long-running commitment to individual style. Across different generations, the team has represented creative street skating without treating every rider the same. On the equipment side, Real has continued exploring deck shapes and constructions, recognising that width, concave and board feel are personal choices. That combination of skate history and practical design has kept its decks relevant far beyond the brand’s early years.
