Founded in 1991 by street-skating pioneer Natas Kaupas alongside Steve Rocco, 101 Skateboards emerged from the creative upheaval that reshaped skateboarding in the early 1990s. After his years with Santa Monica Airlines, Kaupas used 101 as a platform for both his skating and his distinctive approach to skateboard graphics.
The company brought together a remarkable group of skaters, including Gabriel Rodriguez, Eric Koston, Gino Iannucci, Jason Dill, Kris Markovich and Clyde Singleton. Its videos Falling Down and Snuff captured an era when street skating was evolving rapidly, while the brand’s provocative artwork made its decks instantly recognizable.
Original 101 boards later became sought-after pieces of skateboarding history. The Heritage reissues introduced by Dwindle brought back landmark graphics, including Gabriel Rodriguez’s Jesus and Natas Kaupas’s Devil Worship. Explore the 101 Skateboards selection here for a connection to one of street skating’s most influential chapters.
