Mark “Fos” Foster started Heroin Skateboards in England in 1998 after deciding to build something of his own. Early boards were spray-painted because proper screen printing was beyond his budget. What could have been a limitation became part of the label's identity: strange creatures, rough illustrations and a refusal to look like the rest of the skateboard industry.
Heroin later became known for oversized and shaped decks, playful team footage and an approach to skateboarding that prizes experimentation. Despite its provocative name, Fos has explained that the original idea was his own addiction to skating, not a celebration of drugs. At BUD Skateshop, Heroin represents the independent graphic imagination that can turn a board into an unmistakable object long before its first session.
