Girl Skateboards: a defining voice in street skating

Girl Skateboards was established in 1993 by a group including Rick Howard, Mike Carroll, Spike Jonze and Megan Baltimore. At a time when street skating was redefining itself, Girl set out to be a company shaped by skateboarders and the personalities of its team. The instantly recognisable female silhouette logo became part of skateboarding’s visual vocabulary.

The films are central to its legacy. Goldfish, Mouse and Yeah Right! helped define several eras through inventive production, distinctive soundtracks and unforgettable skating. Girl also treated board graphics as a place for creative expression, developing an approach to art and storytelling closely connected with the wider Crailtap world. Its identity has always been about more than decks: friendship, humour, film-making and personal style are part of the story.
