Cliché Skateboards: a landmark in European street skateboarding

Cliché Skateboards began in Lyon in 1997 when French skater Jérémie Daclin set out to build a board company from within Europe's growing street scene. At a time when the industry was heavily centred on California, Cliché showed that European spots, riders and films deserved their own platform.

The company became associated with names including Lucas Puig, Joey Brezinski, Flo Mirtain and Max Géronzi. Films such as Bon Appétit and Freedom Fries reflected the team's humour and the variety of terrain across the continent. Its graphics, landmark videos and team spirit continue to influence the way European street skating is remembered. BUD looks at Cliché as an important chapter in French skateboard history: a label that helped give European street skating a lasting voice.
