Altamont Apparel: skate clothing beyond the logo

Altamont Apparel was introduced in 2006 through a collaboration between Sole Technology and Andrew Reynolds. The idea was to build clothing informed by skating, music and art without relying solely on oversized logos. Reynolds helped shape a look that felt individual, slightly rebellious and closer to a complete wardrobe than conventional team merchandise.

Shirts, trousers and graphic pieces became part of that aesthetic. Altamont arrived during a moment when skateboarders were paying as much attention to fit and attitude as to a brand name across the chest. Its history still reflects the overlap between skateboarding and the broader culture surrounding it. Clothing here is not a costume for the session, but part of how a skater expresses a point of view.
