April Skateboards was unveiled in 2019 by Australian professional Shane O'Neill after his time with Primitive. The launch video made the intent clear: highly technical street skating, clean presentation and a team selected for individual ability rather than hype alone. Yuto Horigome, Ish Cepeda and Kai Kishi were among the names associated with the early project.
O'Neill's influence is obvious in the company's direction. Precision, fluid combinations and an emphasis on actual skating sit alongside graphics that remain relatively restrained. April makes its decks part of a coherent visual and video programme, rather than relying on random seasonal images. At BUD, it represents a particular approach to modern technical street: ambitious skating, careful filming and a clear identity behind the boards.
