Antihero Skateboards: raw skateboarding since the nineties

Antihero Skateboards was founded by Julien Stranger in 1995 as part of San Francisco’s Deluxe Distribution family. Rather than building a polished image, the company embraced road trips, difficult spots, unpredictable sessions and the personalities of the skaters involved. That uncompromising approach helped establish Antihero as a lasting voice in American skateboarding.

Its unmistakable eagle graphic has become a classic, but Antihero’s character comes most clearly from its riders and videos. John Cardiel, Tony Trujillo, Jeff Grosso and Grant Taylor represent different generations of powerful, spontaneous skating. The artwork moves between irreverent humour, rough-edged illustration and unexpected references. The boards, meanwhile, remain grounded in the simple idea that skate equipment should be ridden hard. Few labels express the messy freedom of real-life sessions quite like Antihero.
