GX1000: San Francisco streets through a VX1000 lens

GX1000 grew from the San Francisco skate scene and the filmmaking of Ryan Garshell. Its name nods to the Sony VX1000 camera, a piece of equipment whose grainy images have become part of skateboard culture. The project earned its identity through videos and the people skating in them before evolving into a recognised board and apparel label.

San Francisco's steep streets, rough surfaces and distinctive architecture give GX1000 its visual signature. The high-speed footage is striking, but the deeper appeal is a close-knit crew documenting the city on its own terms. Its graphics share that raw, immediate feeling. For BUD, GX1000 represents the power of a local video scene to become an independent skateboard brand without losing its roots.
