Quasi Skateboards: from Mother to an independent art direction

Quasi Skateboards came together in Ohio in 2015, led by Chad Bowers alongside riders with roots in the Alien Workshop circle. The project was initially known as Mother before adopting the Quasi name. Gilbert Crockett, Jake Johnson and Tyler Bledsoe formed part of the early team, setting a tone defined by individual style and thoughtful street footage.

Quasi's creative direction is unusually open-ended. Photographic treatments, collage, unexpected typography and ambiguous imagery give the boards an identity that cannot be reduced to a recurring logo. The films Mother and Grand Prairie show the same care in spots, filming and rhythm. BUD presents Quasi as a company where the visual language surrounding skateboarding matters as much as the tricks themselves.
