Grizzly's bear is rooted in Torey Pudwill's childhood skating, not a branding agency. An early skate wax experiment used a bear-shaped mould; later, his father helped build a homemade stamp to cut the same symbol into sheets of grip. Torey and friends first moved small batches around their local skate scene.
Those DIY beginnings developed into Grizzly Griptape, known for its instantly recognisable bear cut-out and later for accessories and apparel. The company's identity remains tied to grip: the rough surface under your shoes, the most visible part of a deck's top side and an everyday piece of skate equipment. Grizzly turned a local idea into a skate-culture signature.
