The Santa Cruz Calamity VX Jake Wooten 8.5″ is Jake Wooten’s pro model, pairing a roomy 8.5″ width with Santa Cruz’s reinforced VX construction. At 32.2″ long with a 14.375″ wheelbase, it offers a stable platform for fast transition, bowls and bigger terrain while remaining responsive enough for street skating.

VX construction for strength without unnecessary thickness

The VX layup uses five plies of North American maple reinforced by two composite layers instead of a conventional seven-ply maple stack. This construction is designed to produce a deck that is thinner and lighter while increasing resistance and helping it keep its stiffness, shape and pop for longer.

The result suits a skater who wants the solid footprint of an 8.5″ deck without a heavy or dull feel. The reinforced structure is especially relevant for repeated hard landings, transition skating and sessions where the deck is under constant load.

SC-222-VX shape and ATV medium concave

The SC-222-VX is a classic popsicle-style shape with a 7″ nose and 6.6″ tail. The ATV medium concave gives the deck a versatile profile: enough contour to locate the feet and control the board, but not so deep that movement becomes restricted. Its 14.375″ wheelbase provides a balanced mix of stability and maneuverability.

Calamity artwork on silver mirror foil

The Calamity graphic is printed over a silver mirror foil base, giving the artwork a reflective metallic finish. The visual was created by Dustin Kefaliotis, whose detailed line work fits the darker, chaotic Calamity theme.
